Hello and Welcome

About Kimberly Cook Designs

Kimberly Cook Designs is a creative studio focused on hand-painted planters, wall art, and functional pieces — all thoughtfully made and inspired by color, process, and everyday living.

Welcome — I’m Kimberly, and I’m glad you’re here.

Kimberly Cook Designs is a space rooted in creativity, process, and the belief that art belongs in everyday life. From hand-painted planters and functional art to mixed-media and upcycled pieces, my work is created slowly and thoughtfully, one piece at a time.

From Making Do to Making Art

I live in Morrow, Ohio, but my creative journey began years ago in Michigan, with stops in Florida and a few other places along the way. Moving often taught me how to make each new space feel like home — usually on a budget — and that’s where my love of making and transforming things took hold.

What started as upcycling furniture and reworking walls gradually expanded into a deeper studio practice. Over time, I found myself drawn to color, texture, and process — experimenting with alcohol ink, paint, resin, and mixed media to create art that’s both expressive and functional.

Today, my work includes hand-painted planters, wall art, and one-of-a-kind functional pieces designed to be used, lived with, and enjoyed.

My Studio Practice

Much of my recent work centers around alcohol ink, though my practice continues to evolve. I’m drawn to how materials behave — how ink moves, how color interacts, how imperfections add character. No two pieces are ever the same, and that’s part of what I love most about working by hand.

After years in a demanding retail management career, building my own creative business has allowed me to return to what matters most: making thoughtfully, learning continuously, and sharing that process with others.
